What Makes Ortho-Bionomy Different From All the Rest? First of all, Ortho-Bionomy works. It works quickly, simply, without pain and without a lot of sessions. It focuses on the bones - where they fit together and the stress and tension at the joints. It looks at flexation, movement and stuck patterns or places. It doesn't try to change you - or change anything. It helps you recognize yourself and your holding patterns. It offers information on how to help yourself through self-corrective techniques, exercise, posture and observing how you hold your body. It promotes body awareness. It shows you how to change existing habits into healthier ones - more healthful ways to sit, walk and run. It helps you perfect your sport whether it is golf, horseback riding, surfing or tennis. It teaches you to connect with your energy and where you want to direct it. It's SAFE - your body is always moved within your boundaries - with you as the guide. The Ortho-Bionomy session is a place to get your way. You know more about your body than anyone else, so why not choose your positions of comfort? It is simple yet not simplistic. It is deep, interconnected work, yet very subtle. It reconnects you with parts of yourself that you may have forgotten existed. It gives you access to a picture so that you have more choices. How does it work? Your lie on the table fully-clothed while a practitioner assesses your alignment through the way you place yourself on the table. This preferred position reveals a lot about the body - for example, a tight neck will often pull the head into the tense side. Ortho-Bionomy's philosophy is similar to the laws of homeopathy - "like cures like." "Exaggerating the symptoms" elicits the body's innate reflexes, allowing holding patterns to complete thus allowing release. This addresses the cause rather than the effect - which could be a fall you took as a young person, from which you are still holding trauma. As the underlying cause is recognized, there are more options. These options come from the client rather than being force by a practitioner. This allows for safety and often long-lasting effects, as the client leaves the sessions equipped with more information about themselves and their choices. This new knowledge is often all that's needed to begin unraveling long- ingrained tension and pain in the body. Zoee Crowley has been involved in Ortho-Bionomy since 1978. She teaches in ten countries, on five continents, lives on Maui - (20 years) where she practices and teaches this work. Special interests are understanding deeper levels of body pain through Ortho-Bionomy, Womens issues, emotional holding patterns creating tension and pain in the body. This is a very exciting time for Ortho-Bionomy! It
is being recognized as an essential way to learn about ourselves, take care
of ourselves, and release our pain and traumas. It is no longer a luxury.
In this time of world changes and uncertainty, the only thing we can be
certain of is change! And we can only change ourselves, bringing peace
and understanding by looking at holding patterns, posture, and body language
in order to move forward to a healthy, happier place. Who should take the course?
